It’s Work That Matters
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Abuse and Assault Trauma Program will provides direct care to traumatically injured children and their families due to abuse and assault. Care settings include both the In-Patient and Out-Patient Setting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ordering, conducting and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, and furnishing pharmacologic agents. The Nurse Practitioner is the primary care coordinator for this patient population and collaborates with various subspecialties that consult on Abused patients. The NP serves as a resource, interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate. The NP is responsible for Trauma Program development in collaboration with the Program Administration and Medical Director. The NP demonstrates commitment to the patient and practices within the CHLA Model of Family Centered Care.
Minimum Education: Masters Degree in Nursing & three years pediatric experience preferred.
Minimum Experience: One year of experience in emergency room and/or dealing with abused victims.
License, Registration or Certification Required: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for “hold out as a Nurse Practitioner” as defined in Section 1482, Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code. Current California Registered Nurse License and current certification as a Nurse Practitioner. National certification as appropriate - preferred. Eligible for Furnishing License - preferred.
