Medical Coder, Credentialed, as part of the HIM Revenue Management Team, provides coding and pre-defined abstracting services following mandated Federal and State Regulations, The Joint Commission, CHLA Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, Division specific coding guidelines, and hospital policies and procedures. Participates in providing quality coded data for outcomes, peer review, reimbursement, research, marketing and development. Performs as a mentor to non-credentialed coding staff. Experience coding Radiation Therapy and Oncology is required.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Coding Certificate Program and/or Health Information Management Program. Pathophysiology or demonstrates proficiency. 2 years or more as a Medical Coder, preferably with Pediatric Coding experience and/or coding experience in a large teaching hospital. Demonstrated proficiency in ICD10 / CPT assignments. Experience coding Radiation Therapy and Oncology is required.

License, Registration or Certification Required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Skills: Needs to be detail oriented and have exceptional organizational skills. Must be a team player and demonstrate critical thinking.
