It’s Work That Matters.

Position Summary: The Registered Nurse in the ECMO Unit will, under general supervision, serve as an ECMO Specialist and Registered Nurse. Children's Hospital of Los Angeles began using extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in 1987. The ECMO Program has treated approximately 1180 patients in the last 29 years.  The RN in the ECMO Unit will conduct assessments, participate in the development of the plan of care, implement and evaluate care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Will provide and advocate for patient and family centered care.  The RN in the ECMO Unit will maintain an in-depth knowledge of the relationship between the patient and the ECMO pump. The RN will consistently collaborate with the health care team members in the delivery of the appropriate level of ICU care.

Minimum Qualifications: Three years' experience as an RN in pediatric critical care. Preferred: ECMO experience. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required: Broad knowledge of patient care principles and equipment; CHLA patient care policies and procedures. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Education/Licensure/Certifications: Bachelor's Degree required in Nursing preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. BLS and PALS required.

You must be willing to reside in the state of California, and have a primary work site in the state of California, to be considered for this position.
