The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit is a Level III, state-of-the-art intensive care unit designed to treat Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ smallest patients. The NICCU team is full of dedicated care providers who provide complex, multidisciplinary care to over 600 critically ill neonates per year.

“The people who work here have specialized in infants, and we know their signs for distress. We know what to look for, which is very different compared to older children or adults.” – Kimberly Harness, RN

Patients from all over the world come to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Whether an infant has a very rare condition or needs a special form of care, every day you’re encouraged to learn and grow.

What is the most rewarding part of working in CHLA's NICCU? “The most rewarding thing we see here is when a baby gets better and gets to go home with their family – that’s the best thing,” says NICCU RN Emily Lloyd.
